November 30 Meeting – You got something?

Ernie Rings the Bell

“Youre not the only one, With mixed emotions” – Rolling Stones

The meeting started without Jeff or Anita to lead singing so the honor fell to Jack.  We sang My Country Tis of Thee and JC returned thanks.

Patriotic Singing brought to you by Sam the Eagle

Ernie started by saying that OJ is now in the room….(wait for obvious joke)

Didn't see that coming did you?

…and of course he meant ORANGE JUICE!
On a more serious note, he expressed the bewilderment and mixed emotions about the lack of attendance for breakfast.  Hopefully it was due to the fog delay in Hertford County!!
Carolyn and Deborah are both celebrating their birthday on Dec. 1st.
Meals on Wheels and Bingo assignments were given.
Braggin Rights went to Brian who is celebrating 1 year at the Herald on Dec. 1st and also the debut of their new magazine Front Porch Living.
An update on Oliver included him being under 11 different medications and possibly making a public appearance at church on Wednesday.
Looking forward all that I can see, Is good things happening to you and to me – Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
The majority of the meeting consisted of the following announcements about upcoming events considering all or some Rotary members.  Most of this is quoting the email Ernie sent later in the day:
Teresa Jenkins sent me a message saying she misses seeing everyone, but asked that I advise that Southern Bank is collecting Toys for Tots and doing Angel Tree for SAFE House.  Go by Southern and offer assistance to these worthy endeavors.
The Ahoskie Rotary Club is assigned to ring the bell for Salvation Army on Saturday, December 4 from 1-4.  The kettle will be only at WalMart this year.  We have volunteers already for 1-2:30, but if you can ring for a time in the remaining times, please email me and let me know.

Our Club will have its Christmas Party at my house at 107 Bethlehem Church Road in Powellsville on December 13 at 7 pm.  Please bring a favorite hors d’oeuvre to share and bring your spouse or significant others, friends, neighbors or colleagues.  If you are bringing more than 10 guests, please give me a “heads up”.  Beverages, etc will be provided.

SPECIAL LOCATION FOR DECEMBER 14–Our meeting on Tueday December 14 will be at Roanoke Chowan Hospital in the Roanoke Chowan Room (turn left past the canteen after entering the hospital main entrance).  Our program that day will be presented by Dr. David Lingle, Surgeon at RCH.

Denise Martin announced that RBC Bank will be hosting a chili lunch on Monday, December 6 and 16 oz. Cups are available.  Deliveries can be made to business for orders of 5 or more cups and you can make advanced orders by contacting Denise Martin, Mitch Kelly, Don Joyner or other RBC employees.  Proceeds are for the support of Relay for Life.

The North Carolina Symphony Holiday Pops will be at the Helms Center at Chowan University at 7:30 on Wed. December 8.  Tickets are available from Ernie or at Southern Bank branches in the area or from Chowan University.  Student tickets are only $5.00 so if you can’t attend, consider inviting some young students to attend.

We will not have a regular Rotary Meeting on Tuesday, December 28.

Our next meeting is Tuesday morning, December 7.

Closing time, time to go out into the world – Semisonic
Carolyn did not get a good birthday present by drawing the 5 of hearts, recited the 4-way test and…
